Emory Alliance Credit Union, your member-owned financial institution, is committed to providing you with competitive products and services to meet your financial needs and help you reach your financial goals. We are equally committed to protecting the privacy of our members. Under federal law, we are required to give you this privacy notice. It describes our credit union’s privacy policy and practices concerning the personal information we collect and disclose about our members. It also includes information about the parties who receive personal information and sometimes nonpublic information from us as we conduct the business of the Credit Union.
Information We Collect About You – Emory Alliance Credit Union may collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, follow your instructions as you authorize, or protect the security of our financial records.
To protect our members’ privacy, we only work with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protections and limit the use of information we provide. We do not permit these companies to sell the information we provide to other third parties.
Disclosure of Information About Former Members – If you terminate your membership with Emory Alliance Credit Union we will not share information we have collected about you, except as may be permitted or required by law.
How We Protect Your Information – We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, or procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.

Member Security
The Emory Alliance Credit Union is committed to safeguarding member information according to established security standards and procedures. In an effort to accomplish this goal, we shall continually assess those advancements in technology that we feel would be beneficial to you and to the safety and soundness of the credit union.
The World Wide Web – The Internet, is a worldwide communications network that comprise of thousands of computer networks, all interconnected by high-bandwidth fiber optic cables. Today, the Internet is one of the fastest growing means of communication around the world and has had a tremendous impact on the way people and companies do business. Although the Internet is an endless source of information, there are some inherent risks associated with doing business on the Internet. Sending personal information such as your social security number, credit card information or other personal information can be dangerous if you do not know with whom you are doing business with.
Secure Transmissions – To ensure that information is confidential; Emory Alliance Credit Union uses Secured Socket Layer (SSL) encryption for online transactions. Encryption is a communications process that scrambles private information to prevent unauthorized access as information is being transmitted between your browser and the Credit Union’s SSL secured website.
E-mail Security – Regular Internet e-mail is NOT secure. If you choose to communicate to the Credit Union via our Web site “contact address”, we ask that you do not provide personal and/or confidential account information to us. E-mail received and transmitted via Personal Branch, our Online Banking Service is secure and may be used for sensitive communications to the Credit Union. You may also contact us by phone, mail, fax, or by visiting any of our branch locations.
Online Protection Systems – Our online network systems are protected by Anti-Virus software that can detect and prevent computer viruses from entering our main system. We utilize firewalls that block unauthorized interactive access from individuals or other networks. Your confidential information is received and transmitted by the Credit Union through a Virtual Private Network, the most effective means of protecting data. We also transfer data via Secure FTP or SFTP. All systems are monitored by sophisticated technology that can detect and respond to unauthorized activity.
The Emory Alliance CU Web Site – Use of our Web site or linking to a site we sponsor requires the use of cookies, which are small pieces of information a Web server stores on a visitor’s Web browser to remind the site about the user the next time the site is visited. We do not store confidential or sensitive information through the use of cookies. Our use of cookies enhances the member’s online transactions and eases navigation through our web site. In addition, we use cookies to gather data about the usage of our Web Site. For certain applications, such as online transactions, cookies are required to help protect the privacy of a member’s transaction(s) by, for example, terminating the session if the member forgets to log out. We collect e-mail addresses from members who request electronic services, and from users of our web site who choose to provide their addresses.
Linking To Other Sites – We may provide links to non-Emory Alliance Credit Union companies, such as our affiliated partners or merchants. If you choose to link to a Web site not controlled by the credit union, we are not responsible for the privacy or security of these sites, including the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or suitability of their information. Please read their privacy policies prior to submitting any personal information.
Children Online – We do not knowingly market to, or solicit information from, children under 13 without parental consent. We recognize that protecting children’s identities and privacy online is important and the responsibility to do so rests with both the online industry and with parents.
What Members Can Do to Help – Emory Alliance Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy and security of its members. Members can help by following these simple guidelines:

Protect your account numbers, plastic card numbers, PINs (Personal Identification Numbers) or passwords. Never keep your PIN with your card, which can provide free access to your accounts if your card is lost or stolen.

Use caution when disclosing your account numbers, social security number, etc. to other persons. If someone calls you explaining the call is on behalf of the Credit Union and asks for your account number, you should beware. Official Credit Union staff will have access to your information and will not need to ask for it.

Keep your information with us current. If your address or phone number changes, please let us know. It is important that we have current information on how to reach you. If we detect potentially fraudulent or unauthorized activity or use of an account, we will attempt to contact you immediately.

Before you dispose of old computer equipment that you have used for online banking or other financial services make sure that all personal information is removed from the hard disk and have the disk securely reformatted or destroyed.
Beware of Phishing Scams - Phishing scams often come as official looking Email that appear to have come from your Credit Union, banks, credit card company, eBay, etc. The Email usually says that there is something wrong with your account or that they need to verify your information. These messages have been forged and are fraudulent. Your Credit Union, bank, Credit Card Company, etc. will not contact you by Email to verify your information or inform you that you have a problem with your account. You should just delete these messages; never reply to them and never follow their instructions.
